The Senators snapped a five-game losing streak by defeating the Tigers, 6-2. Tim Cullen, Paul Casanova and Mike Epstein homered for the Senators. Casanova, who drove in a run with a single to tie the score at 2-2 in the fourth, broke the deadlock with his circuit clout in the seventh. Mickey Lolich accounted for the Tigers' tallies with a bases-loaded single, but the lefthander continued in a pitching slump, drawing his third straight loss. [The Sporting News]
