Jim Wynn, who had only three hits in 33 previous times at bat, broke out of his slump with two doubles and a single in four trips and figured in the scoring of both of the Astros' runs in a 2-1 victory over the Padres. Wynn hit his first double in the seventh inning, reached third on a sacrifice and counted on an error. Then, in the eighth, after Bob Watson tripled, Wynn doubled again. The Padres loaded the bases against Jack Billingham with one out in the ninth, but scored only on a sacrifice fly by Steve Huntz before Ivan Murrell struck out. [The Sporting News]
