On the strength of two homers, the Padres snapped an eight-game losing streak by defeating the Giants, 3-2. Steve Huntz singled and Bob Barton hit for the circuit in the third inning, but the Giants picked up a run in their half on Bob Heise's first major league homer and tied the score in the fifth when Heise and Willie McCovey doubled. Huntz broke the deadlock with a round-tripper in the seventh to beat Gaylord Perry, who was stopped on his personal five-game winning streak. [The Sporting News]
