The Dodgers, playing their 1,000th game in Los Angeles since moving from Brooklyn in 1958, marked the occasion by defeating the Astros, 6-3. Billy Grabarkewitz homered with two men on base in the fifth inning to put the Dodgers ahead, 3-2, but the Astros tied the score with an unearned run in the eighth.

In the Dodgers' half, Grabarkewitz doubled, stole third and counted the tie-breaking tally when Willie Davis doubled. Davis stole second and continued to third on a throwing error by Don Bryant. After Wes Parker walked, Davis beat the throw to plate on Bill Sudakis' grounder. Tom Haller followed with a single to drive in the final run. [The Sporting News]
