A sacrifice fly by Rich Reese with the bases loaded in the 10th inning brought the Twins a 2-1 victory over the Royals. Rick Renick homered for the Twins in the second inning. The Royals tied the score with an unearned run in the seventh. The Twins' winning run also was tainted, coming about after George Mitterwald reached base on a throwing error by Paul Schaal.
