Bob Bailey hit two homers and a double, driving in five runs, as the Expos celebrated Dominion Day by defeating the Phillies in both ends of a twi-night doubleheader, 11-1 and 4-1. Rich Nye, who pitched the lidlifter for the Expos, gave up a run in the first inning on a walk and a triple by Larry Bowa, but allowed only three more hits the rest of the way. Bailey and Adolfo Phillips each hit a two-run homer and Coco Laboy batted in three runs with a triple and an infield out.

In the nightcap the Expos scored twice in the first inning on a pass to Don Hahn, a sacrifice, a single by Rusty Staub and a double by Bailey. Staub reached base on an error in the eighth before Bailey hit his second homer of the night. Dan McGinn had last-out help from Howie Reed after the Phillies scored their run in the ninth inning.
