A homer by Richie Hebner with two men on base and two out in the eighth inning carried the Pirates to a 4-3 victory over the Mets. The Pirates picked up their initial run in the fourth when Matty Alou doubled and Roberto Clemente singled, but Tommie Agee batted in two runs with a double in the home half and the Mets added another run in the seventh on singles by Ken Singleton and Bud Harrelson and a forceout of Harrelson by Art Shamsky. In the eighth, Gene Clines and Alou singled before Hebner hit his homer. [The Sporting News]
