. . . where the 1970s live forever!
Filling in for Hank Aaron in the first game, Mike Lum smashed three homers and Aaron, returning to action, also hit for the circuit in the second game as the Braves swept over the Padres in a twi-night doubleheader, 8-1 and 9-4. Lum, who had only one homer previously this season, batted in four runs with his round-trippers and picked up a fifth RBI by a drawing pass with the bases loaded. Rico Carty also homered for the Braves. Jim Nash, who gained his 10th victory, was deprived of a shutout when Cito Gaston connected for the circuit in the eighth inning.

Carty started the Braves' scoring in the nightcap with a three-run wallop in the first inning. Aaron connected with one aboard in the second and Orlando Cepeda duplicated the blow in the fifth. The Padres had homers by Steve Huntz, Ollie Brown, Ramon Webster and Tommy Dean. [The Sporting News]
