Although collecting 11 hits, the Yankees wasted scoring opportunities and lost to the Senators. 4-3, for their fourth straight defeat. The Senators scored an unearned run in the first inning and then went ahead, 3-1, when Mike Epstein singled and Bernie Allen homered in the third.

Singles by Ed Brinkman and Jim French, together with a sacrifice fly by Ed Stroud, added what proved to be the deciding tally in the fourth. Two of the Yankees' runs were unearned and the other came on a homer by John Ellis in the seventh inning. [The Sporting News]
