Bob Gibson gained his 10th straight victory when the Cardinals rallied for six runs in the last two innings to defeat the Expos, 6-3. Mack Jones and Ron Fairly hit homers for the Expos, who were leading, 3-0, after seven innings.

Jose Cardenal doubled to start the Cards' comeback in the eighth, Carl Taylor walked and Dick Allen tripled. After an intentional pass to Joe Torre, Jim Beauchamp doubled to tie the score and Mike Shannon followed with a sacrifice fly to send the Cardinals ahead.
