Five innings of shutout relief by Stan Williams and a three-run double by Harmon Killebrew enabled the Twins to defeat the Athletics. 4-2. A walk to Joe Rudi and a homer by Sal Bando produced the A's runs off Hall in the fourth.

The Twins broke loose for all their runs in the fifth. After the Twins loaded the bases and scored one run on a sacrifice fly by Jim Holt, a walk refilled the sacks and Killebrew cleared them with his two-bagger. Williams replaced Tom Hall in the A's half of the fifth and yielded only two singles the rest of the way to gain credit for his sixth straight victory. [The Sporting News]
