Brooks Robinson hit a grand-slam homer in the 10th inning to carry the Orioles to a 6-2 victory over the Yankees. Mel Stottlemyre, who started for the Yankees, homered in the third inning, but the Orioles went ahead in the fifth before the Yankees forced the game into overtime with singles by Roy White, Thurman Munson and John Ellis in the ninth.

Lindy McDaniel was on the mound in 10th when Boog Powell walked and stopped at second on a single by Frank Robinson. Elrod Hendricks grounded to Ellis, whose throw to second was dropped by Gene Michael, loading the bases and setting the scene for Brooks Robinson's belt. [The Sporting News]
