Ron Swoboda drew a pass from Sal Campisi with the bases loaded and two out in the ninth inning to force in the run that gave the Mets a 4-3 victory over the Cardinals. The Mets bunched singles by Bud Harrelson and Ken Singleton, a walk, a single by Donn Clendenon, a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly by Wayne Garrett for three runs in the sixth.

After the Cardinals rallied to tie the score, Jerry Grote singled in the ninth. Danny Frisella struck out, but Tommie Agee singled. After Harrelson forced Agee, the Cardinals decided to pass Singleton intentionally in a move that backfired when Campisi also walked Swoboda. [The Sporting News]
