. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Ray Fosse and Graig Nettles batted in a total of 11 runs among them to lead the Indians' attack in a sweep of a twi-night doubleheader with the Senators, 7-3 and 7-5. Frank Howard homered in each game for the Nats. In the opener, the Indians wiped out a 3-0 deficit with a four-run outburst in the fifth inning. Eddie Leon knocked in one run with a single, Jack Heidemann hit a sacrifice fly and Fosse plated a pair with a single. Nettles iced the game in the sixth, driving in three runs with a double.

In the nightcap, Leon hit a sacrifice fly in the second inning and homered with a man in base in the fourth. Fosse rapped a round-tripper in the fifth and batted in a run with a triple in the seventh before scoring himself on a sacrifice fly by Chuck Hinton. In addition to Howard's homer in the second game, the Senators also had circuit clouts by Ed Brinkman, Rick Reichardt and John Roseboro. [The Sporting News]
