Jim Fregosi scored from third base on a grounder by Ken McMullen in the ninth inning to carry home the Angels' winning run in a 3-2 victory over the Royals. Tom Bradley, called up by the Angels from Hawaii (Pacific Coast), had a 2-0 lead going into the ninth when the Royals picked up their first run on singles by Ed Kirkpatrick, Bob Oliver and Billy Sorrell. Ken Tatum, relieving, passed two batters to force in the tying tally.

In the Angels' half, Fregosi singled for his third hit, Alex Johnson beat out a bunt and Jim Spencer sacrificed. McMullen then grounded to Cookie Rojas, whose throw to the plate was too late to catch the sliding runner. [The Sporting News]
