Although suffering from a foot injury, Maury Wills came to the plate as a pinch-hitter and cracked a two-run double as the Dodgers rallied for five runs in the ninth inning to defeat the Astros, 6-5, for their seventh straight victory. A triple by Cesar Cedeno, who batted in two runs, paced the Astros to a 4-1 lead going into the ninth.

Wes Parker started the Dodgers' comeback with a one-out double, took third on Cedeno's boot of the ball and scored on a single by Willie Crawford. A pass to Bill Sudakis brought Jack DiLauro to the mound for Houston. Andy Kosco struck out, but Jim Lefebvre singled Crawford home. Sudakis took third and Lefebvre advanced to second on Cedeno's wild throw to the infield. Wills then hit his double, limping to second. Claude Osteen ran for Wills and scored what proved to be the deciding run when Billy Grabarkewitz singled off Jim Ray. Jim Wynn homered in the Astros' half of the ninth. [The Sporting News]
