Although knocked out in the ninth inning, Jim Perry gained his 13th victory when the Twins defeated the Athletics, 8-6. Tony Oliva hit a homer, three singles and a sacrifice fly, driving in four runs for the Twins, and Leo Cardenas contributed two doubles and a single. Rich Reese added a homer.

The A's rallied for four runs in the ninth. Sal Bando singled for his fourth hit of the game and scored on singles by Don Mincher and Reggie Jackson. Dave Duncan then homered. [The Sporting News]
