Ken Singleton smashed a three-run homer and Jerry Grote collected four straight hits to feature the Mets' 7-5 victory over the Cardinals. Nelson Briles, coming off the disabled list, was staked to a 3-0 lead by the Cardinals, but the Mets rebounded with four runs in the third. Ken Boswell doubled and scored on a single by Grote. After Tommie Agee singled and Grote was out at the plate on a grounder by Bud Harrelson, Singleton hit his homer.
