. . . where the 1970s live forever!

With Dock Ellis pitching a five-hitter, the Bucs beat the Cardinals, 6-0, clinching their verdict with four unearned runs in the fifth inning. Manny Sanguillen batted in the Pirates' earned pair with grounders in the first and third. With two out in the fifth, a single by Roberto Clemente, error by Jim Kennedy on another grounder by Sanguillen and a pass to Bob Robertson loaded bases. Al Oliver then hit to Kennedy and when the rookie shortstop threw wildly, two runs scored. Two more counted on singles by Jose Pagan and Bill Mazeroski. [The Sporting News]
