Willie Mays, who singled in the 11th inning for the 2,992nd hit of his career, raced from first to third on a wild pitch and scored on an infield out by Dick Dietz to give the Giants a 7-6 victory over the Braves. The Giants built up a 6-0 lead before the Braves ended a 22-inning scoreless streak by exploding for six runs in the eighth.

The first two counted on a homer by Orlando Cepeda. Hal King followed with a single and Jimmie Hall walked, leading to the removal of Juan Marichal. Don McMahon relieved but failed to stop the Braves, who added a run on a double by Mike Lum and pulled even when Clete Boyer smashed a homer. [The Sporting News]
