The Red Sox snapped a three-game losing streak with a 7-1 victory over the Indians. The Red Sox staked Gary Peters to a two-run lead in the first inning. Dick Schofield, who walked and stopped at third on a double by Reggie Smith, was thrown out at the plate when Carl Yastrzemski grounded to Jack Heidemann, but Rico Petrocelli and George Scott singled to get runs across.
