Mack Jones hit two homers off Juan Marichal to start the Expos' scoring in a 7-3 victory over the Giants, whose runs came on a homer by Willie Mays in the eighth inning for the 2,999th hit of his major league career.

After getting a start from Jones, the Expos added a run in the fourth on pass to Jim Gosger, a wild pitch and a single by John Bateman. Rusty Staub doubled and Gosger singled for another tally in the sixth. Two of the Expos' final three runs in the eighth were unearned. [The Sporting News]
