Rewarding the five-hit pitching of Don Sutton, Wes Parker singled with the bases loaded in the 10th inning to give the Dodgers a 1-0 victory over the Mets, who suffered their fifth straight defeat. Tom Seaver, who started for the Mets, was lifted for a pinch-hitter in the top half of the 10th and Tug McGraw, in relief, was the loser.

Manny Mota opened the Dodgers' half with a single and was sacrificed to second by Sutton. After an intentional pass to Billy Grabarkewitz, Willie Davis beat out an infield hit to load the bases.
