Batting twice with the bases loaded, Elrod Hendricks drove in two runs with a double in the second inning and then hit the first grand-slam homer of his major league career in the seventh to lead the Orioles' attack in a 14-5 victory over the White Sox. The Orioles scored six runs in the second, two on Hendricks' double, two on a single by Paul Blair and two on a double by Boog Powell.

Hendricks' grand-slam came off Barry Moore after a double by Frank Robinson and passes to Brooks Robinson and Davey Johnson. Mike Cuellar, who gained his fifth straight victory, was troubled mainly by Bill Melton, who batted in three runs for the White Sox with a single, sacrifice fly and homer. [The Sporting News]
