Pat Dobson ended his personal five-game losing streak and Ollie Brown hit safely in his 12th straight game, smashing a double and a homer, as the Padres defeated the Expos, 3-1. Singles by Steve Huntz and Al Ferrara, around an infield out, produced the Padres' initial run in the fourth inning.

Brown hit his double in the sixth and scored on a single by Nate Colbert. Brown's homer followed in the eighth. The Expos evaded a shutout with a run in the ninth on a single by Jim Gosger, double by Coco Laboy and sacrifice fly by Jim Fairey. [The Sporting News]
