Two walks with the bases loaded in the sixth inning, when the Giants scored four runs, helped provide a 7-4 victory over the Mets. Wayne Garrett homered as the Mets built up a 4-2 lead behind Rich Folkers, who made his first major league start.

Dick Dietz, who homered for the Giants in the fourth, led off the sixth with a double and Al Gallagher walked. Hal Lanier singled to drive in Dietz and Bob Heise hit a pinch-double, plating Gallagher to tie the score.
