Bert Blyeven allowed only four hits and pitched the Twins to a 2-1 victory over the Tigers with the aid of batterymate George Mitterwald, who smashed a homer for the winning run in the seventh inning. Jim Northrup homered for the Tigers in the sixth but the outfielder's error enabled the Twins to tie the score in their half. Rich Reese singled, reached third when Northrup let the ball get away in right field and beat the throw home on a grounder by Harmon Killebrew. [The Sporting News]
