A one-man attack by Wayne Garrett proved insufficient for the Mets, who lost to the Dodgers, 5-3. Garrett drove in all three of the Mets' runs with a pair of homers. The Dodgers had a round-tripper by Tom Haller. Ted Sizemore, who had a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning, tripled and scored what proved to be the deciding run on a sacrifice fly by Bill Russell in the sixth. [The Sporting News]
