. . . where the 1970s live forever!
The Indians built up a 9-1 lead with the aid of a grand-slam homer by Vada Pinson and then held on to beat the Twins, 9-8. Dean Chance batted in a run with a single and Duke Sims walked with the bases loaded to give the Indians a 2-1 lead in the second inning.

With two men on base in the third and a count of two balls on Eddie Leon, Pete Hamm made his debut on the mound for the Twins and finished walking Leon. The pass was charged to Dave Boswell. Chance beat out a bunt, scoring Graig Nettles, and Pinson followed with his jackpot wallop. Nettles homered in the fourth and Buddy Bradford doubled to drive in what proved to be the winning run in the fifth. Harmon Killebrew and Tony Oliva hit homers for the Twins. [The Sporting News]
