Bobby Bonds belted two homers and batted in three runs to pace the Giants to a 4-2 victory over the Mets. Bonds also collected two singles. The Mets loaded the bases in the first inning but scored only one run on a grounder by Donn Clendenon, who then accounted for their second tally with a homer in the third. Bonds hit for the circuit in the fifth and put the Giants ahead with his second round-tripper in the seventh after Frank Johnson reached base with a single. A walk, wild pitch and double by Ken Henderson added an insurance marker.
