Hank Aaron batted in five runs with two homers to lead the Braves to a 9-7 victory over the Cardinals. Hal King also homered for the Braves, while the Cardinals had circuit clouts by Julian Javier, Dick Allen and Joe Hague. Aaron homered with a man on base in the third when the Braves scored four times to take a 4-1 lead.

The Cardinals, however, went ahead, 6-4, before the Braves exploded for five runs in the seventh. King led off with his homer. Clete Boyer singled and, after two out, scored the tying run on an infield hit by Felix Millan. Tony Gonzalez then walked and Aaron followed with his second homer for the winning smash.
