. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Billy Williams batted in his 95th and 96th runs, one more than his total for the entire 1969 season, to mark the Cubs' 6-3 victory over the Astros. The Cubs picked up a run in the first inning and added another on a homer by Johnny Callison in the second before sewing up the verdict with four in the fourth. After Callison and Randy Hundley singled, walks to Don Kessinger and Glenn Beckert forced in the first marker. Williams followed with a two-run single and the final tally counted on a wild pitch. Denis Menke and Cesar Cedeno homered for the Astros. [The Sporting News]
