. . . where the 1970s live forever!
After 7 2/3 hitless innings, Steve Hargan settled for a three-hitter in pitching the Indians to a 3-2 victory over the Twins. George Mitterwald singled to spoil Hargan's no-hit bid. After another single by Leo Cardenas, the runners moved up on a wild pitch. Hargan walked Charlie Manuel intentionally to load the bases and gave up the Twins' runs on a single by Brant Alyea before Cesar Tovar hit into a forceout to end the inning.

The Indians counted twice in the third on singles by Eddie Leon and Larry Brown, a wild throw by Jim Perry on a bunt by Hargan, and a single by Roy Foster. Vada Pinson provided the winning run with a homer in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
