. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Johnny Bench belted his 35th homer and Tony Perez poked his 31st among the Reds' 14 hits in an 8-4 victory over the Pirates. Perez batted in a run with a single in the first inning before Bench connected for the circuit. Pat Corrales drove in another run with a double. The Reds added three more tallies in the second and wound up their scoring with a homer by Perez in the seventh. Tony Cloninger was the winner with the help of Don Gullett, who allowed only two hits in the last 3 2/3 innings. [The Sporting News]
