The Phillies, who won the first game, 6-5, with an unearned run in the 11th inning, also took the second game, 6-1, to complete the sweep of a doubleheader with the Giants. Ken Henderson, who ultimately turned out to be the goat, homered for the Giants with two men on base in the first inning of the opener. The Phillies went ahead, 5-4, but Willie McCovey tied the score with a circuit clout in the ninth. In the 11th, Larry Bowa walked, Mike Ryan singled and when Henderson threw wildly to third base, Bowa continued home to score the winning run.
