. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Bill Melton homered with a man on base and two out in the ninth inning to lift the White Sox to an 8-7 victory in a split of a doubleheader with the Indians, who won the first game, 4-2. In the lidlifter, Ed Herrmann homered for the White Sox and Duke Sims for the Indians to effect a 1-1 tie. The Indians pulled away with two runs in the sixth. Roy Foster doubled and scored on a single by Graig Nettles. After Tony Horton forced Nettles, singles by Ted Uhlaender and Eddie Leon added the deciding run.

In the nightcap, Syd O'Brien singled before Melton broke up the game with his homer. [The Sporting News]
