The Orioles posted a 10-8 victory to complete the sweep of their 12-game season series with the Royals and extend their domination of the expansion club to 23 straight games over two seasons. The Orioles knocked out Jim Rooker before he could retire a batter and piled up five runs in the first inning. After Merv Rettenmund and Paul Blair singled and Frank Robinson walked to load the bases, Brooks Robinson batted in two runs with a single and Curt Motton drove in two more with a triple. Dave Johnson doubled off reliever Al Fitzmorris to plate a fifth run.

Motton homered with two men on base in the fourth before Andy Etchebarren provided the Orioles' winning margin with a two-run single in the sixth. Amos Otis hit a homer for the Royals.
