Tony Oliva and Harmon Killebrew powered the Twins to a 4-3 victory over the Tigers to spoil Al Kaline Day for the crowd of 40,113. The Tigers' veteran outfielder singled in his first time at bat but went hitless in his next three trips. Oliva started the Twins' scoring with a homer in the first inning. Norm Cash walked and Don Wert doubled for a Tiger run in the second, but Oliva singled in the fourth and Killebrew followed with a titanic homer into the upper-deck bleachers in center field.
