. . . where the 1970s live forever!
The hitting of Ed Stroud and Aurelio Rodriguez paced the Senators to a 6-2 victory in the first game of a doubleheader, but the Athletics came back to win the second game, 1-0, on a homer by Don Mincher with two out in ninth inning.

In the lidlifter, Stroud reached base four times on a triple, two singles and a walk and scored three runs. Rodriguez batted in two tallies with a double in the eighth inning. Rick Monday homered for the Athletics. In the nightcap, after both starters were removed, Mudcat Grant was the winner when Mincher homered for the only hit allowed by loser Horacio Pina.
