Yielding only four hits, Skip Pitlock pitched the first complete game of his major league career as the Giants defeated the Dodgers, 5-2. The Giants jumped off to a 4-0 lead before Bill Singer could retire a batter in the first inning. Bobby Bonds led off with a double, Tito Fuentes bunted safely, Ken Henderson singled to score Bonds and Willie McCovey ripped a three-run homer. Jim Ray Hart added a round-tripper off Pete Mikkelsen in the eighth.

Ted Sizemore had three of the Dodgers' hits and drove in their runs with a single in the fourth. Those tallies were unearned because of an error by Fuentes. [The Sporting News]
