With batting support from Paul Blair, Dave McNally pitched the Orioles to a 5-2 victory over the Red Sox to become the third Baltimore hurler to win 15 games this season, joining Jim Palmer and Mike Cuellar. Blair hit two homers and a single, driving in three runs. After Blair rapped a round-tripper in the first inning, the Orioles added two more runs on three walks and a single by Davey Johnson.
