Ed Herrmann hit the first grand-slam homer of his major league career and Jim Magnuson gained his first victory when the White Sox defeated the Brewers, 9-3. Herrmann connected for the circuit off Gene Brabender in the first inning after a single by Luis Aparicio and two walks had loaded the bases. Bill Melton batted in two runs with a single in the second and Syd O'Brien homered with a mate aboard in eighth. Gus Gil and Max Alvis hit round-trippers for the Brewers. [The Sporting News]
