Chuck Dobson yielded only four hits and extended his personal winning streak to six games by pitching the Athletics to a 4-1 victory over the Royals. The A's scored two of their runs in fourth. Joe Rudi bunted safely but hurt his hand and gave way to Felipe Alou, who scored on a double by Sal Bando. Don Mincher singled to plate Bando.
