. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Luke Walker yielded only two hits and pitched the Pirates to a 4-0 victory over the Phillies. Walker retired the first 15 batters before Jim Hutto and Mike Ryan singled to open the sixth inning. Rick Joseph hit into a double play and Bill Mazeroski, as the middleman, set the N. L. career record for most putouts by a second baseman with 4,781.

The Pirates scored in the first on a triple by Matty Alou and infield out by Al Oliver. Richie Hebner doubled and Bill Mazeroski singled for a run in the fourth. Alou walked in the fifth and Oliver followed with a homer to wrap up the scoring. [The Sporting News]
