. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Pitching his first complete game since July 8, Mickey Lolich gained his 10th victory as the Tigers ended a four-game losing streak by defeating the Senators, 3-1. Al Kaline doubled and Don Wert singled to produce the Tigers' initial run in the fourth inning. A double by Wert, an error and a wild pitch added a tally in the seventh. The Senators scored in the eighth on a double by Rick Reichardt, a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly by Ed Brinkman, but Mickey Stanley clinched Lolich's decision by hitting a homer in the Tigers' half.
