Tom Grieve homered with a man on base and Frank Howard knocked in two runs with singles to boost the Senators to a 5-2 victory over the Red Sox. With the score tied, 2-2, Ed Brinkman singled in the seventh inning, Wayne Comer walked and Howard singled to break the deadlock. Grieve clinched the decision with his circuit clout in the eighth.
