After seven consecutive losses, Jerry Janeski broke into the winning column when the White Sox erupted for five runs in the fifth inning to defeat the Brewers, 7-3. Syd O'Brien struck out to open the fifth but reached first safely when the pitch got past catcher Phil Roof. Luis Aparicio walked, then Carlos May, Duane Josephson, Ken Berry and Bobby Knoop followed with run-scoring singles. Dave May's throw from the outfield on Knoop's hit struck Berry and bounced away, allowing Berry to cross the plate with the fifth run of the frame. Bill Melton had an earlier homer for the White Sox.
