. . . where the 1970s live forever!

The pitching of Dock Ellis and Bruce Dal Canton, who yielded six hits apiece, enabled the Pirates to sweep a twi-night doubleheader with the Phillies, 4-0 and 8-3. The Pirates' support of Ellis in the first game included a two-run double by Al Oliver and a homer by Willie Stargell to beat Jim Bunning, who yielded only five hits but was turned back in his third bid for his 100th N. L. victory to go along with 118 in the A. L.

The Pirates clinched the second game with five runs in the third inning. Oliver batted in two with a triple. After an intentional pass to Richie Hebner with one out, Bob Robertson hit a three-run homer. [The Sporting News]
