Tommie Agee rapped two singles, two doubles and a triple to lead the Mets' 17-hit attack in a 12-9 victory over the Pirates. Agee scored four runs and batted in two. Donn Clendenon contributed a three-run homer to start the Mets' production in the first inning. The Mets went on to build up a 10-3 lead before the Pirates chased Jerry Koosman in the seventh, scoring three runs on a double by Freddie Patek, single by Matty Alou and homer by Roberto Clemente.
