The Conigliaro brothers, Tony and Billy, batted in seven runs between them to help the Red Sox outlast the Tigers, 11-10. The Red Sox had an 11-3 lead going into the ninth inning, but the Tigers almost pulled the game out of the fire with a seven-run rally. Billy Conigliaro, who had three hits, homered with two men on base in the fourth inning and knocked in what proved to be the winning run with a single in the eighth. Tony Conigliaro drove in three with a single and a pair of sacrifice flies.
